Edremit Municipality and the Edremit School of Civil Aviation carried out a meaningful coastal cleaning and awareness activity on Güre Beach in order to strengthen environmental awareness and leave a more livable environment for future generations.
Organized through the cooperation of the Directorate of Cleaning Affairs of Edremit Municipality and the Edremit School of Civil Aviation, the event was implemented within the scope of the Teamwork Course conducted at the School. Under the guidance of Asst. Prof. Dr. Ebru BAĞÇI, the course instructor, students and municipal teams came together on Güre Beach under the slogan “Clean Coast, Clean Sea” to carry out an environmental clean-up activity.
As part of the event, an approximately 2-kilometer stretch of coastline was carefully cleaned. By collecting waste along the shore, the students and municipal staff drew attention to environmental pollution while also contributing to the protection of the natural coastal environment, the prevention of marine pollution, and the promotion of public environmental awareness.
The activity also attracted the attention of local citizens along the ساحل. Their expressions of appreciation toward both the students and the municipal teams demonstrated that the project resonated with the community and helped expand environmental sensitivity on a broader social level.
The student team involved in the activity, led by Mustafa Koç, included Berkcem Demirer, Okan Osman Tarım, Muhammet Aslanboğa, Kıvılcım Susar, Büşra Nur Gökçe, Feyza Yürüsün, and Abdulkerim Gülver. The team was highly appreciated for its environmentally responsible approach and dedicated efforts throughout the event.
At the end of the activity, thanks were extended to Edremit Municipality for its valuable support and contributions, and to the students of the Edremit School of Civil Aviation for their commitment to environmental awareness. In particular, the logistical support and equipment provided by the Municipality played an important role in ensuring the effective and efficient implementation of the activity.
Carried out with the understanding that “a clean environment and a clean sea mean a better future”, the event stood out as a strong example of university–local government cooperation in promoting environmental awareness and social responsibility.
