Mission
The mission of the Aviation Management Department is to train professionals who are well-versed in national and international aviation regulations, equipped to carry out aircraft operations within safety standards and with business management skills under optimal cost and time constraints, capable of working in teams, and committed to applying professional ethical principles as well as the regulations set by aviation authorities.
Vision
The vision of the Aviation Management Department is, during undergraduate education, not only to enhance students’ professional knowledge and skills through vocational and technical courses in compliance with national and international civil aviation regulations, but also to offer courses in business management in order to meet the need for qualified personnel with managerial and specialist competencies required by private sector companies and public institutions and organizations.

History
Brief History of the Department
The Council of Ministers’ Decision regarding the establishment of the Edremit School of Civil Aviation within Balıkesir University was published in the Official Gazette dated August 3, 2016, and numbered 29790, thereby coming into effect. Thus, the Edremit School of Civil Aviation officially took its place within the academic structure of Balıkesir University. With 4 institutes, 14 faculties, 2 schools, and 12 vocational schools, Edremit School of Civil Aviation became the second school of the university.
Our Edremit School of Civil Aviation started education in the 2018–2019 academic year with 60 students in the Aviation Management program. By the end of the 2022–2023 academic year, our school had produced its second graduates. In the 2024–2025 academic year, educational activities are being carried out with 250 students.
