Edremit Tayyaresi UAV Team Earns Support at TEKNOFEST

Representing Balıkesir, the Edremit Tayyaresi UAV Team has achieved a significant success within the scope of the 2026 International UAV Competition. The team successfully completed the project report phase and became eligible to receive financial support of 120,000 TL.

The Edremit Tayyaresi UAV Team takes its name from the “Edremit Tayyaresi,” one of the important milestones in Turkish aviation history, which carried out a historic flight covering Europe, Asia, and Africa. During this meaningful journey, the first martyrs of Turkish aviation were commemorated, and a significant contribution was made to the national aviation movement through an aircraft donated by the people of Edremit to the Aviation Society.

The team’s technical advisor is Fahrettin Gökmen, while the team captain is Yüsra Kuruçay. The team consists of students from Balıkesir University Edremit School of Civil Aviation, including Beraat Batır, Bersu Nur Özkan, Emirhan Kiçir, Gülendam Nur Orta, Kübra Akyıldız, Merve Töre, Sıla Daşkınel, and Tuana Çiçek. With this achievement, the Edremit Tayyaresi UAV Team aims to represent their university in the best possible way throughout the TEKNOFEST process.
