IN THIS SECTION
Dear Students, Esteemed Academic and Administrative Staff, Distinguished
Sector Stakeholders, and Visitors,
On behalf of Balıkesir University and Edremit Civil Aviation School, I
extend my sincere greetings to you all. In a period in which global transformation
is accelerating and the aviation sector is being reshaped by technological,
managerial, and sustainability-driven dynamics, our School continues to uphold
its mission of educating highly qualified human capital with determination and
commitment. In this context, we do not confine our educational philosophy
solely to vocational knowledge transfer; rather, we embrace as our fundamental
objective the cultivation of individuals who think analytically, adhere to
ethical principles, possess critical perspectives, and develop an international
vision.
The aviation sector represents a strategic field built upon the principles
of safety, security, quality, and sustainability, requiring interdisciplinary
knowledge and competence. We continuously review and improve the programs we
deliver in alignment with current industry needs. Our curriculum is structured
in a manner that integrates strong theoretical foundations with practice-based
learning processes. We attach importance to ensuring that our students remain
engaged with the industry not only after graduation but throughout their
educational journey. To this end, we develop collaborations with industry
representatives, organize technical visits, conduct career-oriented events, and
implement applied learning activities.
We place a student-centered approach at the core of our institutional
culture. We regard supporting each student in line with their individual
potential, interests, and career aspirations as a fundamental principle.
Through academic advising systems, mentoring practices, and career planning
activities, we aim to contribute to both the academic and personal development
of our students. We do not perceive learning as a one-directional transfer of
information; instead, we approach it as an interactive, inquiry-based, and
participatory process. Accordingly, we establish a broad learning ecosystem
encompassing classroom applications, project-based studies, field research, and
community engagement initiatives.
Among our academic objectives are enhancing our national and international
visibility, strengthening our research productivity, and developing research
projects integrated with industry needs. Together with our academic staff, we
conduct interdisciplinary studies in aviation management and related fields,
contributing to both the literature and the sector through scientific research.
We aim to educate students who are not merely consumers of knowledge but also
producers of knowledge—individuals who research, question, and analyze. In this
respect, we promote a research culture at the undergraduate level, expand
project-based learning practices, and encourage active participation in
scientific activities.
We build our institutional identity upon the principles of quality
assurance, continuous improvement, and transparency. We regularly evaluate our
educational processes and consider feedback received from internal and external
stakeholders as an essential instrument for development. We adopt an innovative
and flexible management approach capable of adapting to changing sectoral
conditions, and we pursue our goals in digitalization, sustainability, and
internationalization in line with our strategic plans.
We regard the natural and cultural richness of our region as a valuable
opportunity for the academic, social, and personal development of our students.
Within a safe, accessible, and learning-conducive campus environment, we
provide a holistic university experience supported by social, cultural, and
scientific activities. We strive to foster a participatory and inclusive
institutional culture that strengthens our students’ sense of belonging.
With a clear awareness of the global nature of aviation, we embrace a
multicultural perspective grounded in universal values and respect for
diversity. I invite all our students, academics, and stakeholders to become
active participants in this shared vision. We carry the responsibility of
educating the aviation professionals of the future with seriousness and
dedication, and we continue to progress toward becoming a stronger, more
productive, and more innovative academic institution each day.
On this occasion, I would like to thank all our students who have chosen
our School and become part of this academic journey. I sincerely believe that
the knowledge, values, and vision we will produce together will make
significant contributions to both the aviation sector and our country.
Sincerely,
Prof. Dr. Mehmet SARIOĞLAN
